What would one consider to be the best http protocol for a person to follow?

I want to learn about http protocols that I can use in making my own websites. I am not really familiar with this stuff but I am trying to search for online http protocol tutorial. I hope to get more tips regarding this matter because it is my desire to make a very nice website for a product I want to advertise. I have just learned the basic framework of the http protocol.
