using cellphones in China

If I want to find out about cell phones that can work over in China, where would be my best bet? Should I surf the web for the answers? Or should I inquire from within?

Hi there!

Some of the people that I had an interview regarding their usage of they call China phones have been really negative. They say, these phones are not that good in quality are mere false twins of original phones mad in western countries like France and Germany. I really hope it not that terrible.
